China to cut auto tariffs on US-made cars – report
China is set to cut tariffs on vehicles imported from the United States, a move announced last week by US President Donald Trump’s chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow.
Kudlow stated last Tuesday that he was confident a deal which would entirely remove tariffs on US cars was “coming.” According to a report published by Bloomberg earlier today, China is now moving toward slashing levies for cars made in the US.
Prior to news on possible reduction of auto tariffs, US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Chinese Vice Premier Liu He exchanged opinions regarding agricultural purchases, as well as potential changes to fundamental Chinese economic policies.

Trump: Important China announcements coming
United States President Donald Trump praised the progress in the country’s trade talks with China and stated “important announcements” will come soon.
“Very productive conversations going on with China! Watch for some important announcements!” Trump tweeted.
The US and China started a new round of trade talks earlier this week with the focus on agricultural products and China’s fundamental economic policies. Meanwhile, media reports emerged that Beijing is set to reduce tariffs on vehicles imported from the US.
Exclusive: Trump says China ‘back in the market’ for U.S. soybeans
Trump said on Tuesday that those negotiations were already taking place by telephone.
“We’ll probably have another meeting. And maybe a meeting of the top people on both sides,” Trump said. “If it’s necessary, I’ll have another meeting with President Xi, who I like a lot and get along with very well.”
He said he would wait to increase tariffs on Chinese goods to 25 percent from 10 percent until it becomes apparent whether the United States and China can make a deal.
“Exclusive: China makes first major buy of U.S. soybeans since Trump-Xi meet”
CHICAGO (Reuters) – China made its first major U.S. soybean purchases in more than six months on Wednesday, two U.S. traders said, and its first since U.S. President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping struck a trade war truce in early December.
Chinese state-owned companies bought at least 500,000 tonnes of U.S. soybeans, two U.S. traders said, in deals valued at more than $180 million.
