New Orders
New orders for manufactured durable goods in
September increased $1.6 billion or 1.0 percent to
$165.7 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau announced
today. This was the second increase in the last three
months. This followed a 2.6 percent August decrease.
Excluding transportation, new orders increased 0.9
percent. Excluding defense, new orders increased 0.5
percent.
Machinery, up five of the last six months, had the
largest increase, $1.7 billion or 7.9 percent to $23.4
billion.
Shipments
Shipments of manufactured durable goods in
September, up three of the last four months, increased
$1.3 billion or 0.8 percent to $172.6 billion. This
followed a 1.4 percent August decrease.
Transportation equipment, also up three of the last four
months, had the largest increase, $2.4 billion or 5.6
percent to $44.9 billion. This was led by nondefense
aircraft and parts, which increased $1.4 billion.
New Home Sales Post Surprise Drop; Inventory Also Falls
Sales of newly built U.S. single-family homes unexpectedly tumbled 3.6 percent in September in their first drop since March, but the inventory of new homes available at the end of the month shrank to the smallest in 27 years, government data showed on Wednesday.
September single-family home sales totaled 402,000 units at an annual pace.
Analysts polled by Reuters had expected new home sales to rise to a 440,000 unit annual pace from a revised 417,000 units in August, which was originally reported as 429,000 units.
Goldman Sachs Reduces Third-Quarter GDP Forecast
As the economy teeters on the verge of recovery, Goldman Sachs on Wednesday lowered its GDP forecast from 2.7 percent to 3.0 percent.
Because the economy still faces headwinds, Goldman Sachs lowered its third-quarter GDP forecast.
It did so after the release of the durable goods report, which showed that new orders for manufactured goods rose 1 percent in September.
Goldman said in a research note that while the headline gain in orders was in line with expectations, the numbers weren’t as good as it had expected.
Shipments for nondefense capital goods, in particular, were weaker, the company said.
The lowered forecast underlined many experts’ opinion that while the economy has shown signs of improvement lately, a full recovery is still a long way off.
"It’s surprising that the numbers have been as good as they have," Phil Dow, wealth management managing director at RBC told CNBC, when asked about his view on the Goldman forecast change. Regardless, he said, it’s still a big swing up from the big loss in GDP earlier this year.
A Reuters poll of economists forecast that GDP will 3.3 percent, which would be its first growth since the the second quarter of 2008. The economy shrank 0.7 percent in the second quarter of 2009.
Positive growth in gross domestic product would signal an end to a recession, which is defined by two straight quarters of decline.
The government will release its third-quarter GDP figure at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

GS napravio downgrade valjda da pripremi ekipu. A može biti i navlakuša. U svakom slučaju ja sam skoro 90% siguran da nakon objave (bez obzira na cifru) kreće malo žešći iskrcaj. Trenutno je u modi "sell on news". A ruku na srce napumpali su to do bola. Gledam jučer Jamie Dimona, Geithnera i ostalu bandu koji vide izlazak iz krize a već pripremaju svijet na drugi veliki stimulus. Izgleda da im je prvi zaglavio i da su i dalje u "arestu". Ja ću za svaki slučaj malo pojačati likvidnu poziciju.
9800 je dotaknuto(9801) koje vjerujem nećemo više nikad vidjeti. Ne treba biti posebno pametan i zaključiti da će Ameri završiti u plusu.

Nemam ništa proti korekcije. Ali što ako ta korekcija izazove novi val panike što i nije baš nemoguće??
Q3 rezultati su jasno pokazali – nema revenue-a što znači da je ekonomija i dalje u popriličnoj banani a mjesta za rezanje troškova sve manje.

Pitao sam se zašto Crobex pada 8 dana a vani toliko puno raste?
Uzrok tome je pakleni plan od fond managera.
Naši fond igrači napravili su korekciju pada cijena od 8 dana i tako napravili umjetnu krizu prije normalne korekcije jer se u vrijeme naše korekcije vani dosta raslo, a sada kada se vani korigiraju vrijednosti, oni žele da kod nas vrijednosti i dalje padaju jer će tako akumilirati vrijedne dionice znam da će pokušati izazvati lančanu reakciju kako bi došlo do novog potopa cijena, i nakon toga će kupovati na dnu.
Ajme gluposti.
