"Perhaps the most eye-catching reform is Croatia’s plan to switch from a continental European-style trial system that gives centre stage to judges to an Anglo-American accusatorial system that emphasises the roles of prosecutors and defence lawyers.
The most important cases will be tried under the new system from July 1.
“It will require a change in mentality. We have some doubts about the Anglo-Saxon system but the accusatorial system does have its advantages,” Mr Simonovic said."
