Coronavirus: Chinese ports grind to a halt while yards declare force majeure
Agents and brokers are reporting operations are slowing down at Chinese ports and shipyards as the coronavirus takes its toll and the Lunar New Year holidays are extended.
Despite an edict from the Ministry of Transport yesterday urging port operators to keep ships moving, a lack of stevedores and truck drivers is slowing down vessel turnaround times, and storage yards are also beginning to clog up.
The crisis has also been felt at Chinese shipyards. Yards are turning away vessels from scheduled drydocks citing labour shortages, and the normally busy deliveries of newbuildings in any given January has slowed right down. Meanwhile, scrubber retrofits – already taking far longer than planned – are slipping further behind schedule.

Onda sljedeci tjedan, ili onaj iza, ili kad uskoro dođemo do nule.. a mozda ni tada, jer ce nas sve potamaniti ova Korona :)))
Eh da je samo Corona u pitanju. Kako nevolja nikada ne dolazi sama… u blizini Wuhana se pojavio još jedan stari poznanik, navodno puno smrtonosniji od Corone i SARS-a, H5N1 – pticja gripa. Zasad su samo pogođene ptice odnosno perad.
Nadajmo se da ljudi neće obolijevati. Jer taj virus je jako smrtonosan za ptice i dosad se nije širio medju ljudima (s čovjeka na čovjeka).

China to inject $174B into economy amid coronavirus
The People’s Bank of China (PBoC) announced on Sunday that it will pump 1.2 trillion yuan ($173.8 billion) into the economy amid worries the outbreak of the coronavirus will affect growth.
The Chinese central bank noted the sum will be injected on February 3 via reverse repo operations, making the total liquidity in the country’s banking system 900 billion yuan higher than in the same period a year ago.
