US, China set to delay December 15 tariffs – report
The United States and China are set to delay tariffs on each other’s goods which are set to take effect on December 15, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday citing officials from both sides.
According to the report, American and Chinese negotiators are “laying the groundwork” to postpone the implementation of the additional duties as they aim to reach a phase one agreement on trade.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump claimed trade talks with Beijing are “going well” and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross insisted it was more important to reach a “good” deal than a quick one. Meanwhile, China noted it wants an agreement as soon as possible but stressed that any deal must include a tariff rollback.
