BDI 903
+4.4 %

Sad vidim, dobro je to.. Panamaxi bi još trebali rasti i BDI bar preko 1000-1200 bodova da se počne govorit o oporavku sektora.. Sve u svemu dobro je za sad.

Čudi me da nije htjelo danas preko 190.
Ipak je BDI malo puno podivljao, a ovo pak smireno raste?

>>TOKYO — Charter rates for large ocean-going bulk carriers have risen to the highest in almost a year thanks to robust demand for iron ore shipments to China — highlighting a gap with midsize vessels.

The rate for a Capesize vessel with a loading capacity of around 170,000 tons — the benchmark for large carriers — averages around $13,150 a day, the highest since early October 2015 and more than double the rate from a month ago.

Heavy rains in China have eroded crude steel output and pushed up prices of steel materials. So Chinese steelmakers are actively procuring ore. Demand is strong for shipments from Australia and Brazil, among other places.

In addition, typhoons and other inclement weather are delaying arrivals and unloading in and around China, causing vessel allocation to stagnate and compounding a ship shortage, an official at a marine shipping brokerage says.

With charter rates having risen, fares on Brazil-China shipments have soared around 40% in a month to a little over $12 per ton. As fares are seen climbing further, vessel owners are poised to keep raising charter fees.

Meanwhile, charter rates for midsize bulk carriers in the Panamax class — with an around 80,000-ton capacity — have dropped 25% from a peak reached in mid-July to about $5,260 a day. Demand related to coal transport is brisk but soy and corn shipments from the U.S. have yet to shift into high gear ahead of the autumn harvest season.

And these carriers face competition from smaller vessels, the supply of which is rising. The capacity of the Panamax fleet is seen edging up 0.5% this year from 2015, while the smaller Handymax’s capacity is expected to expand 4%, according to U.K. market research company IHS Markit. A Handymax vessel can transport around 55,000 tons of cargo.

“The charter rate for Panamax carriers will go up when grain shipments from the U.S. pick up in October and beyond,” says an official at Tramp Data Service in Tokyo.

If charter fees and fares remain high, that would bolster earnings at Japanese marine shipping companies. Nippon Yusen has assumed a charter rate of $11,000 for Capesize vessels for the second half of fiscal 2016. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines has factored in a rate of $9,000 for October-December.<<

onaj tko kupuje ne voli euforiju … ne bi me čudilo ni da se malo primiri

Ma kakva euforija, druge stvari rastu. Nisu ljudi još dobili sigurnost u brodarski sektor. Pozitivnih vijesti svakako ima ali ovo će jako polako ić do malo većih razina

ovaj dio mi je posebno zanimljiv :

“The charter rate for Panamax carriers will go up when grain shipments from the U.S. pick up in October and beyond,” says an official at Tramp Data Service in Tokyo.
