Panamax voyage rates rocketed further at the weekend with strong Atlantic activity although things quietened down in Asia.
Supramaxes also recorded some notable successes but the capesize slide in fixtures continued.

Oldendorff has spent a massive $46,500 a day on the 77,800-dwt Tai Progress (built 2004) from North Europe to Murmansk and the Med.
Cargill also has the 92,500-dwt Chaitali Prem (built 2009) for much the same itinerary at $40,800 per day.
From Ireland to the US east coast and the Black Sea cost Sigma $45,000 per day with the 73,200-dwt Great Jade (built 1997).
A roundtrip from the Med to the US Gulf set an unidentified charterer back $39,000 a day with the 76,600-dwt FD Vittorio Raiola (built 2010).
Bunge chartered the 79,500-dwt Golden Eclipse (built 2010) from Brazil to the Med at $38,000 a day and a relatively small bonus of $375,000.
Elsewhere a roundtrip in the North Pacific set MOL back $34,250 daily with the 77,200-dwt Jupiter (built 2006).
Swiss Marine and Farenco each booked ships for four to six months at very different rates: the former has the 76,500-dwt Yin Zhu Hai (built 2009) at $40,000 from the Atlantic and the latter the 76,200-dwt RBD Fiuggi (built 2008) at $32,000 but from China.
An unidentified player spent $40,000 a day also on the 83,000-dwt Med Lausanne (built 2006) from the Med for six to eight months.
