Cijelu drugu polovicu 2009. si najavljivao tih 5 minuta, no ovog puta se slažem. [smiley]
Libertas plovi za 41.500 USD a day, doduše, ako sam dobro shvatio, u jednom smjeru.
Dreyfus splurged a massive $42,000 a day on a front haul via South America with the 73,400-dwt Zagora (built 2001) and $41,500 a day for a similar fixture with the 75,500-dwt Libertas (built 2007).
Despite many reported deals on new building orders, readers who took part in the latest monthly poll, organized by Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide, declared that the most attractive ship investment in today’s dry bulk market is the second hand vessel. This answer was voted by 40.9% (1,112 people) out of the total of 2,717 readers who participated in February’s poll.
The preference of readers towards second hand vessels can be perceived as a growing optimism on the prospects of the dry bulk market. That’s because many of our audience come from the shipping industry, involving ship brokers, ship owning companies and charterers. Their belief that an approach of “buy now” to capitalize on a possible rise of the Baltic Dry Index (BDI), could be an indication on an improved market sentiment. (…) Still, the more conservative shipping community of Hellas seems to be more incline to invest in newbuilding orders, rather than acquiring a second hand vessel.
Of course, both of these options have proven very popular from the beginning of the year, so the main conclusion is that it always depends on the owner and his strategic approach to the market.
For instance a publicly traded shipping company is more likely to go for a resale contract or a second hand vessel, because it’s more difficult to persuade shareholders that the company will commit a large amount of its funds to an investment which will yield results – thus dividends – in more than two years’ time.
So, how is the market shaping up at the moment? Well, the BDI is inching its way forward since last week, with the Chinese steel industry back into the market. Of course, the main question in everyone’s lips is how will the balance between supply and demand shape up in the future?
News this week on increased demand for coal and iron ore trade, as a result of booming emerging economies were welcome among many ship owners. But, on the other hand the looming oversupply is still on the cards. That’s why the recent report by Moody’s Investors said that the long-term drivers of growth remain robust for shippers involved in transporting commodities such as coal, iron ore, oil and grain. These sectors will absorb the number of new vessels scheduled to be on the water in the next few years relatively easily.

Kinezi, Indijci i ekipa odrađuju svoje….
Sretan put i mirno more ……
