Novi plan za spas američke ekonomije potopio burze
Američko ministarstvo financija objavilo je prerađen financijski plan koji bi trebao spasiti banke i pospješiti kreditiranje potrošača. Plan je težak oko 2 bilijuna dolara, no ulagači nisu pretjerano sigurni da će plan raditi posebno zbog toga što ministarstvo nije otkrilo najvažnije detalje vezane uz plan. Nesigurnost je uzrokovala velik pad vrijednosti dionica, Dow Jones je potonuo za 4,55 posto, a pala je i vrijednost dolara.
Average rates for the largest capesize vessels have doubled from
$17,270 per day at the end of January to more than $37,500 per day and
the cost of shipping coal from South Africa to Rotterdam has leapt
from $7 per tonne in January to $10 per tonne. In fact, there’s even
been a report about a charter of a capesize of Coscobulk contracted at
an impressive $59,000 daily for a trip from Brazil to China. The ship
is built in 1997 and boasts a capacity of 171,080-dwt. The Baltic
Exchange reports that importers are taking advantage of better iron
prices to buy spot cargoes as inventories have depleted.
Opinion is divided about a recovery in trade with Morgan Stanley
arguing that “the worst is over” for dry bulk shipping while Citigroup
says that commodity prices are undergoing a short-term rally and it
expects them to remain weak into 2010. Optimists see the renewed
interest in vessel chartering as evidence that China’s $600 billion
infrastructure stimulus is beginning to generate demand from Chinese
steel mills.
Nevertheless, the renowned interest in the market that has propelled
freight rates since the beginning of the year, has been enough to
improve ship values, a much-debated issue among ship owners. The
reported drop in ship values has caused the breaching of loan
covenants by many dry bulk shipping companies. As a result, many banks
have been renegotiating loan terms with their clients, with Dryships,
Seanergy Maritime and Safe Bulkers being some of the NYSE and Nasdaq
listed companies included in that list.
According to Clarkson’s weekly S&P report, “the recent bounce up of
the dry freight market seems to be reflected in this week’s sales”.
The report cites the sale of the capsize Japanese controlled “Pacific
Prosperity” to buyers from Hellas (rumoured to be Fairsky) at a level
close to $40 million. Clarkson’s said that this price for the 179,385-
dwt and 1998-built by Hyundai vessel is very firm, considering the
sale in early January of the M/V Golden Wing (170,082 dwt 1997 blt
Daewoo) at $27 million to clients of Polembros.

Svi će se nakupovati danas, pa kad sutra opet ode dolje onda će se vatati za glavu i prodavati da bi kasnije kupili još jeftinije. Zato bi sutra moglo biti pravo vrijeme za kupovinu….
